Manual and label lookups

The manual finder sends your chosen appliance brand, category and model to OpenAI to find manufacturer resources. When you choose a label photo, your browser reduces its size and removes image metadata before sending it to OpenAI to extract the brand and model. You can upload the whole appliance label, including its serial number. The image is sent to OpenAI, but we request only the brand and model for the lookup. We do not save the photo or extracted serial numbers in our database or file storage. OpenAI may retain API data under its own service and abuse-monitoring policies; disabling response storage is not a promise of zero provider retention.

To limit automated requests and control costs, we keep short-lived counters based on a keyed, daily-changing representation of the network address supplied by our hosting provider. We do not save the original address in these counters. Network-based limits may be shared by people on the same connection. Expired counters are cleared during subsequent lookups. Verified resource links are cached by brand, category and model for up to 24 hours; unsuccessful matches are cached for one hour. Manufacturer links open external sites, where their privacy policies apply.

Information you provide

The calculator can record the appliance, symptom, age, recommendation, and estimated savings so we can understand which tools are useful. The contact form stores the name, email address, and message you voluntarily submit.

Do not send passwords, payment-card information, health information, or other sensitive data through the contact form.

Technical and third-party data

Hosting and security providers may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and error logs. Outbound merchant or source links take you to another website with its own privacy practices.

We do not sell personal information. We retain submitted information only as long as reasonably needed for support, security, analysis, and legal obligations.

Your choices

You may use the core calculator without creating an account. You may request correction or deletion of a contact submission by sending a new message with enough information for us to identify the original request.
