Performance measurement

We measure page views, calculator interactions and displayed results, affiliate-link clicks and valid technician-search submissions. A random browser-tab identifier lasts up to 30 minutes in session storage. Event records contain the page path, a broad source category, event time, and the relevant appliance or approved merchant link. They do not contain your name, email, raw IP address, ZIP code, search text, photos or page query strings. These are estimated browser visits, not verified individual people, purchases or technician bookings.

We exclude known bots, signed-in owner activity and browsers using Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control or the exclusion control below. Visiting the owner dashboard also excludes that browser. Activity blockers and network failures can prevent measurement. We retain event records for up to 90 days, with expired records deleted during subsequent tracking activity. To reduce abuse we keep hourly keyed hashes of network addresses in short-lived rate-limit counters; we do not store the original addresses in those counters. The private dashboard is restricted to the site owner through ChatGPT sign-in. These controls do not prevent hosting providers from processing requests for security and operation.

Advertising measurement

When browser privacy signals and this site’s exclusion setting permit it, we load the X conversion tag (pixel ID rfyh6) from static.ads-twitter.com to measure visits from X advertising and help evaluate or optimize campaigns. We also send an X conversion event when a visitor clicks a sponsored affiliate link; this event contains no product destination, conversion value, name, email address or phone number. X may receive browser or device identifiers, IP address, page URL, referrer, timestamp and cookie information under its own privacy practices. We do not send label photos, model numbers, ZIP codes or manual searches through this tag.

The X tag is not loaded for the owner dashboard, automated browsers, or browsers using Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control or the exclusion control below. Set the exclusion choice before visiting other pages; browser and advertising blockers may also prevent the tag. X’s privacy policy and advertising settings provide additional choices.

Manual and label lookups

The manual finder sends your chosen appliance brand, category and model to OpenAI to find manufacturer resources. When you choose a label photo, your browser reduces its size and removes image metadata before sending it to OpenAI to extract the brand and model. You can upload the whole appliance label, including its serial number. The image is sent to OpenAI, but we request only the brand and model for the lookup. We do not save the photo or extracted serial numbers in our database or file storage. OpenAI may retain API data under its own service and abuse-monitoring policies; disabling response storage is not a promise of zero provider retention.

To limit automated requests and control costs, we keep short-lived counters based on a keyed, daily-changing representation of the network address supplied by our hosting provider. We do not save the original address in these counters. Network-based limits may be shared by people on the same connection. Expired counters are cleared during subsequent lookups. Verified resource links are cached by brand, category and model for up to 24 hours; unsuccessful matches are cached for one hour. Manufacturer links open external sites, where their privacy policies apply.

Information you provide

The calculator can record the appliance, symptom, age, recommendation, and estimated savings so we can understand which tools are useful. When you submit the contact form, your name, email address, and message are sent through FormSubmit so they can be delivered to our support inbox. We do not separately store these contact messages in the website database. FormSubmit states that submissions may be retained for up to 30 days. Its own privacy practices also apply.

Do not send passwords, payment-card information, health information, or other sensitive data through the contact form.

Technical and third-party data

Hosting and security providers may process standard request information such as IP address, browser type, timestamps, and error logs. Outbound merchant or source links take you to another website with its own privacy practices.

We do not sell personal information. We retain submitted information only as long as reasonably needed for support, security, analysis, and legal obligations.

Your choices

You may use the core calculator without creating an account. You may request correction or deletion of a contact submission by sending a new message with enough information for us to identify the original request.
