Electric stove burner won’t heat: coil, glass, and induction checks
The safe first checks depend on whether you have a removable coil, radiant glass, or induction surface.

Turn the burner off. If the cooktop is cracked, sparking, smoking, or unusually hot around a control, stop using the appliance and switch off its breaker.

For induction, confirm the cookware is magnetic, centered, and large enough for the cooking zone. Clear any lock or error according to the manual.

For a removable coil, let it cool and disconnect power before checking that it is seated evenly. Do not swap elements if contacts look burned or damaged.

For radiant glass, note whether the indicator and other burners work. Do not remove the glass or access internal high-voltage components.

A failed element, receptacle, infinite switch, control board, or 240-volt supply requires proper testing by a qualified technician.
